Glucose dehydrogenase

Glucose dehydrogenase from Pseudomonas was used to oxidize glucose as part of a flow injection assay assay. In addition, it is used to remove nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NADH), which is consumed by the regeneration of lactate dehydrogenase in the process of pyruvate.
In bacteria, membrane-integrated glucose dehydrogenase catalyzes the conversion of glucose to gluconic acid. It uses pyrroloquinoline quinone as a coenzyme. Intracellular glucose dehydrogenase lacks this cofactor. It is a nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NADH)-dependent enzyme.
